a New Mexico Legacy
For more than 50 years, Golden Pride has been serving the Albuquerque community with the flavors, traditions, and familiar favorites that generations of New Mexicans have come to love.
The story began in 1971 when Larry and Dorothy Rainosek moved from Texas to Albuquerque to operate the Frontier Restaurant. Inspired by a fried chicken concept developed by Larry's brother in San Marcos, Texas, they opened a sister restaurant on West Central in 1972 called Golden Fried. Just one year later, the restaurant was reimagined and renamed Golden Pride, marking the beginning of a local legacy that continues today.
Where Local Favorites Become Traditions
As Golden Pride grew, so did the menu. An employee's suggestion to add breakfast burritos helped shape the future of the restaurant, creating what would become one of Albuquerque's most iconic foods. Today, Golden Pride serves 11 different breakfast burrito varieties that have earned countless local awards and a loyal following across the city.
Alongside its famous breakfast burritos, Golden Pride is known for New Mexican favorites, barbecue ribs, fried chicken, fresh-made tortillas, green chile stew, posolé, and the legendary Sweet Rolls shared with its sister restaurant, Frontier. With multiple locations throughout Albuquerque, Golden Pride has become a go-to destination for quick breakfasts, family meals, and the comfort foods that define New Mexico.
